03 Feb 2026

Under the chairmanship of Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, the Bureau of the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights held its third regular meeting, with the participation of the Deputy Chairperson of the Institution, the heads of the Standing Committees, and the Child Rights Commissioner, and in the presence of the Secretary-General.
The Bureau commenced its agenda by reviewing the key outcomes of the Annual Conference of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, which was organized by the National Institution and hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The conference resulted in the transfer of the presidency of the Arab Network to the National Institution. Discussions focused on mechanisms for activating and implementing the conference’s final recommendations on the ground, in coordination and cooperation with the national institutions that are members of the Network.
As part of the Institution’s direction toward strengthening strategic partnerships and consolidating relationships of trust and cooperation with various stakeholders, the Bureau reviewed the progress and gains achieved in activating partnerships with civil society organizations through recently established working groups. These groups represent a practical model of effective institutional cooperation between the Institution and civil society. In this context, the Bureau approved coordination for the implementation of a specialized training program aimed at building the capacities of members of civil society organizations and introducing the regulatory and legislative frameworks governing their work, as part of the Institution’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of personnel working in civil society institutions.
The Bureau of the Council of Commissioners concluded its meeting by reviewing the existing frameworks of cooperation between the National Institution and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), and by exploring ways to enhance the technical and professional support provided, in a manner that contributes to developing institutional performance, advancing human rights work, and achieving the objectives behind the establishment of the National Institution, in accordance with international best practices and relevant human rights standards.
