Chaired by Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, the Bureau of the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held its fourth regular meeting at the Institution’s headquarters in Seef District, with the participation of the Vice Chairperson, the heads of the Standing Committees, and the Child Rights Commissioner, and in the presence of the Secretary-General.
The Bureau commenced its meeting by reviewing the measures undertaken by the NIHR, within its mandate, since the onset of the Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain. These measures included initiating monitoring and professional documentation of violations, collecting relevant evidence, and maintaining continuous coordination with the competent authorities to ensure prompt response to affected cases and the provision of necessary support. This culminated in the establishment of a specialized subcommittee tasked with monitoring and documenting crimes arising from the Iranian aggression and their impact on the human rights situation in the Kingdom.
The Bureau also reviewed key developments in its work and joint coordination with civil society organizations, discussing the progress of ongoing activities and exploring ways to enhance field cooperation. In this regard, the Bureau emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts, recognizing civil society organizations as strategic partners in the protection of human rights and the strengthening of the human rights system in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Bureau reaffirmed its commitment to following up on the implementation of the Institution’s plans and strengthening its role in the protection and promotion of human rights, in a manner that contributes to consolidating human rights principles and translating its mandate into practical outcomes aligned with future aspirations.
