Bureau of the Council of Commissioners Holds Its Fifth Meeting

The Bureau of the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held its fifth ordinary meeting, chaired by Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of NIHR, with the participation of the Vice-Chairperson, the chairs of the permanent thematic committees, and the Commissioner for Child Rights, and in the presence of the Secretary-General, at NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District.

At the outset of the meeting, the Bureau discussed the latest developments in coordinating the preparation of NIHR’s thirteenth annual report. It reviewed the key information and methodology relied upon, in addition to approving the timeline for its completion.

The Bureau was also briefed on the working paper presented by the Chair of the General Rights and Freedoms Committee, representing NIHR, at the opening of the training programme organized by the Special Investigation Unit under the title “Building National Capacities in Investigation and Documentation in Accordance with the Istanbul Protocol.” NIHR’s participation in this programme reflects its firm commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at strengthening the human rights protection system, consolidating the principles of justice and the rule of law, and enhancing national capacities and personnel in the fields of investigation and documentation in line with the highest recognized international standards.
