NIHR’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms Convenes its 2nd Meeting Remotely

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms has convened its 2nd meeting virtually under the chairpersonship of Dr. Fawzeya Al-Saleh and membership of Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel and Mr. Ahmed Al-Saloom,

The Committee opened its meeting by discussing resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon.  The Committee also discussed its views on the Draft Law on Mental Health received from the House of Representatives and submitted its notes and recommendations to the Secretariat-General.

The Committee completed the discussion of the proposal to hold a number of events, workshops and activities that fall within its competencies, based upon the international agreements signed by the Kingdom of Bahrain, to be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for inclusion in the NIHR strategy for the coming years.

The Committee also discussed holding events and activities targeting service institutions and ministries that deal with citizens directly in order to develop their performance and interactions with the public, in addition to activities targeting school students in the Kingdom of Bahrain to spread a culture of human rights and raise awareness of their rights as citizens.
