Meeting

NIHR’s Committee on Civil and Political Rights held its second meeting on Thursday, 14 March 2013 under the chairmanship of HE Ms. Jamila Ali Salman. The meeting was attended by HE Mr. Farid Ghazi Rafeea and HE Mr. Abdul Jabbar Ahmed al-Tayeb.

During the meeting, the Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The Committee also discussed the future mechanism for dealing with civil society organizations related to the competence of the Committee, in addition to examining national legislations related to human rights, and preparing a preliminary list and determining the best approach to studying these legislations and to what extent they comply with international conventions concerned human rights, which have been acceded to by the Kingdom of Bahrain. At the end of the meeting, the Committee made a number of recommendations, which will be submitted to the meeting of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners which will be held later this month.
