General Rights and Freedoms Committee Holds Its First Regular Meeting

The General Rights and Freedoms Committee held its first regular meeting under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Juma Fuzaia. The meeting began with a review of several advisory opinions, including proposals for relevant legislative amendments aimed at strengthening the human rights protection framework and developing national legislation.
The committee also discussed a number of topics within its areas of competence and reviewed the actions taken regarding its previous recommendations and decisions, as well as followed up on what had been accomplished. It affirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts to support and protect general rights and freedoms.
In addition, the committee reviewed previous proposals to continue organizing awareness activities and lectures for school students to familiarize them with the role of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) in promoting and protecting human rights. The committee emphasized the importance of maintaining this initiative as part of its commitment to reaching all segments of society and raising awareness of their rights and ways to protect them.
