National Institute of Human Rights’ Civil and Political Rights Committee holds its First Regular Meeting

The Civil and Political Rights Committee of the National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR) held its first regular meeting on Monday, April 27th, 2015, under the chairpersonship of Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, NIHR's Vice Chairperson, along with the membership of Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel and Mr. Khalid Abdulaziz Al Shaer.

of the executive regulations with regards to the Institute’s organization and work, were presented. The National Institute’s accomplishments during the previous period were also discussed. The accomplishments included the proposal to amend some provisions of Law No. (37) of the year 2012, to issue a Children’s Law under which the political exploitation of children during electoral processes is criminalized. The Committee issued a recommendation to address the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to jointly coordinate the preparation of the Committee Against Torture’s second national report, which is expected to presented during the 54th session held in Geneva from the 20th of April till the 15th of May, 2015. The committee decided to hold its next meeting on Monday, May 25th, 2015.
