General Rights and Freedoms Committee Convenes its 48th Regular Meeting

The General Rights and Freedoms Committee held its 48th meeting, chaired by Dr. Fawziya Saeed Al-Saleh. The meeting commenced with a follow-up on the outcomes of joint cooperation with several civil society organizations regarding the development of an awareness program aimed at reintegrating individuals covered by the Royal Pardon into society.
The Committee also reviewed the results and evaluation of a lecture it had delivered at a private school, which aimed to introduce the Institution and highlight its prominent role in the protection and promotion of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In a separate discussion, the Committee examined a number of legislations related to rights and public freedoms. It considered proposals to amend certain legal provisions with the aim of strengthening legal safeguards for citizens and residents, in line with international human rights standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Committee emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination with relevant stakeholders, in support of the Institution’s efforts to foster an environment that upholds rights and public freedoms in the Kingdom.
