NIHR’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms Convenes its 9th Meeting Virtually

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms has convened its 9th meeting virtually under the chairpersonship of Dr. Fawzeya Saeed Al-Saleh and membership of Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel and Mr. Ahmed Subah El-Saloom.

The Committee opened its meeting by ensuring the availability of a quorum and approving previous meeting minutes.  Then, it discussed its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon.

The Committee discussed a proposal to hold a conference on Entrepreneurship and Human Rights, where the Committee members agreed to hold some conference sessions in person and some via videoconferencing.  Members also discussed the proposed events of the Human Rights Training Program for law-enforcement workers, where they touched upon the issue of the rights of prisoners and detainees and stressed the importance of providing them with brochures to raise their awareness of human rights.

At the end of the meeting, the Committee adopted its opinion on the Draft Law amending Article 25 (A) of the Law 2006 on Regulating the Labour Market prepared in light of the proposed Law, as amended, submitted by the House of Representatives.
