NIHR’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms Convenes its 20th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms has convened its 20th regular meeting via teleconference under the chairpersonship of D. Fawzeya Saeed Al-Saleh, and in the presence of D. Bader Mohamed Adel and Mr. Daniel Cohen, members of the Committee.

The Committee opened its meeting by completing the discussion of topics related to holding events, workshops and round tables concerned with human rights, whether for civil society institutions or other bodies and human rights defenders, and reviewed a number of proposals that meet the needs and aspirations of the members of those bodies to raise their capabilities in human rights field.

In the same context, the Committee recommended holding three events during the first half of this year, which revolve around the extent of the application of Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law on female inmates, and the importance of protecting the right to a healthy and safe environment and supporting and protecting environmental rights defenders, in addition to holding events centred on the Correctional Justice Law for children as an example of the development of criminal legislation in Bahrain.
