Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee holds its twenty five meeting

The NIHR’s Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee held its 25th meeting on Monday, 16 February 2015 under the chairpersonship of Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Derazi. The meeting was attended by Committee members Ms. Maria Entwan Khouri and Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed all complaints and requests for assistances and legal advice received by the NIHR during the last period and the actions taken regarding the same. The NIHR received one complaint, whereby it is claimed that medical treatment and health care aren’t provided inside the correction and rehabilitation centers. Such complaint was discussed and the authorities concerned were contacted in order to determine the events thereof.
On the other hand, the NIHR received a request for intervention and assistance for extending the residence for children of a foreign woman married of a citizen and for humanitarian reasons the Committee communicated with the competent authority regarding the request. In addition, the Committee reviewed the report prepared by the Committee on monitoring the events of the first trial session of the Secretary- General of Alwefaq National Islamic Society. The Committee stressed that it would attend the next session scheduled for 25th February 2015 in order to ensure the proceedings are in conformity with the international standards related to the right to fair trial. The Committee decided to hold its next meeting on 16th March 2015.
