Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee holds its second meeting

The NIHR’s Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee held its 2nd meeting on Monday, 18th May 2015 under the chairpersonship of Ms. Maria Khouri. The meeting was attended by Committee members Dr. Hameed Ahmed Hussein and Dr. Mona Hijris.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the Complaints Guide prepared by the Secretariat-General to be used as a main reference for the work of the Committee. In addition, the Committee reviewed all the complaints and requests for assistance and legal advices received by the NIHR during the last period as well as the actions taken regarding the same.
The Committee concluded some recommendations and the most important one thereof was the NIHR's follow- up of the cases heard before the court included within the competence thereof and the Committee hoped that the various authorities exert efforts within the context of their cooperation with the National Institution so that such authorities can perform their tasks in such a way to protect and enhance human rights in this regard.
Regarding the fifth court session of the Secretary General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the Committee decided to attend the next session scheduled for 20th May 2015 in order to ensure the proceedings are in conformity with the international standards related to the right to fair trial.
