Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-Up Committee holds its 18th meeting

The NIHR's Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-Up Committee held its 18th meeting, on Monday, 21st July 2014 under the chairpersonship of HE. Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Derazi. The cmeeting was attended by Committee members HE. Ms. Maria Entwan Khuri and HE. Dr. Badr Mohammed Adel.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the reports of committee members' attendance at the court session of the accused in the riot incidents in the Dry Dock Detention Center and the trial session of the Assistant Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society to know the developments of the sessions and the commitment thereof to the international standards regarding the right to fair trial. The Committee took a decision in this regard to attend the coming sessions. The Committee reviewed all the complaints and the assistance requests received by the NIHR during the last period and the measures taken in this regard. Four complaints were received, all of which were studied and most of the authorities concerned were contacted to follow up on the developments thereof. On the other hand, the NIHR received nine assistance and legal advice requests and the Committee reviewed the replies received from some official authorities and expressed – at the same time – its resentment due to the failure of the other authorities to reply. The Committee made some decisions and recommendations which will be acted upon in due course.
