NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convenes its 19th regular meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convened its 19th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Ms. Maria Khouri. Present were Dr. Hameed Hussein. The panel reviewed all complaints and applications for assistance received by the NIHR since the previous meeting of the Committee in October 2016, including 12 complaints, for which all the standard actions were taken, and they were communicated to the concerned bodies.  The Committee further received 13 applications for assistance and legal advice.

The Committee explained that, since January 2016 till this date, it has received 138 complaints, 46 of them were closed as result was achieved therein, 20 were closed for demise of the case of violation therein, 4 were closed for lack of jurisdiction and the remaining complaints are still under follow-up, which are either pending response of the concerned bodies and cooperation with them for demise of the case of violation or referred for more research and study.

The Committee further noted that the complaints and applications for assistance should be submitted to it without hesitation.  It referred to the positive cooperation of all concerned bodies and thanked them for their cooperation to activate partnership and national interest.
