13 May 2016

The NIHR's Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee held its 13th ordinary meeting under the chairpersonship of Ms. Maria Khouri.  The meeting was attended by Committee members Dr. Hameed Ahmed Hussein and Dr. Mona Hijris. During the meeting, the members reviewed all complaints and requests for assistance received by the NIHR.

The Chairperson of the Committee reviewed a brief summary on the new complaint s-system, which facilitates processing and handling of complaints in a more rapid and efficient way, going through the various follow-up phases up to closing of the complaint. The newly introduced system allows for extraction of statistics and information as needed. Moreover, the Committee addressed its collaboration with the committee of civil and political rights and economic, social and cultural rights on proposals related to the NIHR's committees' core duties.

In this regard, the committee has received 52 complaints and 57 requests for assistance and legal advice since January 2016 up to the present day, in addition to monitoring some claims which fall within its competences through the press and social media, which it considered in order to verify their authenticity and then handle and follow up on them. The Committee extended its sincerest thanks and appreciation for the combined efforts of all competent bodies which communicate with it for the purpose of effective collaboration and joint action to achieve the desired outcomes on the complaints and requests received by the NIHR.
