NIHR's Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-Up Committee holds its 17th meeting

The NIHR's Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-Up Committee held its 17th meeting under the chairpersonship of HE. Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Derazi. The meeting was attended by Committee members HE. Ms. Maria Khuri and HE. Dr. Badr Mohammed Adel.

During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the report on the attendance of some court sessions in order to know the developments of the trial and the Commitment thereof to the international standards; especially in relation to the right to fair trials. The Committee took a decision in this regard to attend the coming sessions. 

The Committee reviewed all complaints and the assistance requests received by the NIHR during the previous period and the measures taken in this regard. 12 complaints were received, all of which were studied and the authorities concerned were contacted follow up the developments thereof.

In addition, the Committee reviewed some replies received from the various ministries and the authorities concerned regarding complaints and the Committee noted that there was unjustified delay in such replies from these Government authorities as well as some replies that weren’t sufficient or direct, which may affect the speed of the  decisions concerning the complaints by citizens and residents. At the same time, the Committee called on such ministries and authorities to reply to the letters related to the complaints quickly and in a way that ensures the rights of the complainants to get satisfactory results regarding such complaints. In addition, the NIHR received nine requests for assistance and legal advice and the Committee made some decisions which will be entered into force in due course.
