The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up has convened its 14th regular meeting, under the chairpersonship of HE Ms. Maria Khoury and membership of Mr. Khaled Abdulaziz Alshaer Mrs. Rawdha Salman Alaradi.

During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the overall complaints received by the NIHR as well as the applications for legal assistance and the advice submitted by it, during the period from 10 June until 19 July 2018, amounting to (6) complaints, where the standard actions were taken and the concerned parties were contacted for follow-up, and (36) applications for legal assistance and advice.

The Committee also discussed a set of advisory opinions prepared by the NIHR Secretary General, including the right of the elderly to an adequate standard of living, and the possibility to develop mechanisms for receiving complaints and applications for assistance by adding other channels using electronic signature.

It is worth mentioning that the NIHR receives complaints and applications for legal assistance either personally or via the toll-free hotline (80001144), the NIHR’s website (www.nihr.org.bh), or the (NIHR Bahrain) smartphone application.
