NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Convenes its 1st Regular Meeting via Video-Conference

The National institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up has convened its 1st regular meeting via video-conference under the chairpersonship of Mr. Khaled Al-Sha’er and membership of Mrs. Rawdha Al-Aradi, Mrs. Hala Ramzi and Dr. Hooreya Hasan.

The Head of the Committee opened the meeting by welcoming the new members.  Then, they reviewed the Committee’s terms of reference, missions and function through receiving complaints, providing legal aid and advice and monitoring the human rights situation.

The Committee also reviewed its statements related to the complaints received by the NIHR, the legal aid provided and the cases monitored via the media and social media from May 2 until June 17 this year, where it dealt with (4) complaints, provided (62) legal aids, monitored (13) cases via the media and social media and received (214) calls via the NIHR toll-free hotline during the said period, and discussed the actions taken thereupon.  The Committee also discussed its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon.

Due to the current conditions and the precautionary measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat the Coronavirus (Covid-19), in compliance with the directives and guidelines of the official authorities to limit the spread of the virus, based upon its keenness to the health and safety of everyone, the NIHR continues the provision of its services through the smartphone mobile application (NIHR Bahrain), its website (www.nihr.org.bh) or the toll-free hotline (80001144).
