NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Convenes its 14th Meeting

05 Sep 2022

The National institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convened its 14th regular meeting, under the chairpersonship of Mr. Khalid Al-Sha’er, NIHR Vice-Chairman, and membership of Mrs. Rawda Al-Aradi, Mrs. Hala Fayez and D. Hooreya Hassan.

The Committee started the meeting by discussing the statements related to the complaints received by the NIHR, the legal aids provided by it and the cases monitored by it through the media and social media since the last meeting, where it dealt in August with (62) applications, which varied between complaints, legal aids and monitored cases during the said period, and discussed the actions taken thereon.  The Committee also reviewed the NIHR Secretariat-General’s participation and attendance in a number of trail sessions, with a view to following-up the course of court hearings and ensure the availability of fair trial guarantees.

On the other hand, the Committee stated in the meeting that it is constantly aware of penalties of alternative sanctions and measures, noting its continuous follow-up of the requested submitted to the NIHR in this regard, as well as its close follow-up on procedures related to providing healthcare to inmates of correction and rehabilitation centres, based upon the meeting that has been recently held with government hospitals.

The NIHR continues the provision of its services through personal attendance at the NIHR headquarters in Seef district, smartphone mobile application (NIHR Bahrain), NIHR website (www.nihr.org.bh) or the toll-free hotline (80001144).
