Meeting

NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, monitoring and follow-up held its first meeting on Tuesday, 19 February 2013 under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Al-Derazi. The meeting was attended by committee members HE Mr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Sa’ati and HE Ms. Maria Antoine Khoury.

The meeting approved the overall terms of reference of the Committee. All complaints received by the NIHR during the past period were reviewed and appropriate actions taken on them. The Committee also discussed the development of a work strategy for communicating with civil society organizations and relevant authorities in accordance with the terms of reference contained in the Royal Order No. (46) for 2009, as amended by the Royal Order No. (28) for 2012 concerning the establishment of the National Institution for Human Rights. During the meeting, some proposals aimed at developing the work of the Committee were also put forward, consistent with the mechanism used for receiving complaints and dealing with them. A number of recommendations were made at the meeting, which will subsequently be submitted to the meeting of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners which will be held on 27th of this month.
