Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee holds its first meeting

The NIHR’s Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee in held its 1st meeting on Wednesday, 8th April 2015 under the chairpersonship of Ms. Maria Khouri. The meeting was attended by Committee members Dr. Hameed Ahmed Hussein and Dr. Mona Hijris.
The Committee Chairperson welcomed the Committee members and wished them success in performing their tasks. The Chairperson stressed that the committee is concerned with undertaking its role in protecting human rights. During the meeting, the Committee reviewed its competences stipulated in the executive regulations in relation to organizing the NIHR and its work as ratified by the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners. In addition, the Committee reviewed all complaints received by the Institution and the requests for assistance and legal advice received during 2013 and 2014 and the first quarter of 2015 as well as the measures taken regarding the same. Moreover, the Committee reviewed the report prepared by the Secretariat-General on its monitoring of events of the third court session of the trial of the Secretary -General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society and decided to attend the next session scheduled for 22nd April 2015 in order to ensure court proceedings are in conformity with the international standards
related to the right to fair trial. The Committee decided to hold its next meeting on 18th May 2015.
