The Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee of the NIHR Holds its 12th Meeting

The Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) (NIHR) held its 12th meeting which was headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Ahmed Al-Dirazi and member Her Excellency Maria Antoine Khoury.
The meeting reviewed grievances and requests for assistance that NIHR had received during the period 24 December 2013 to 20 January 2014 and the actions taken with respect thereto, including the complaint filed by the agent of a prisoner regarding treatment, medical care and request for a visit by NHIR. The issue was presented to the Ministry of the Interior. The complaint filed by the prisoner was also presented to the General Secretariat of Complaints as well as the Office of the Prosecutor General for consideration of releasing him for health and humane justifications in accordance with the legal procedures and the powers vested in the Office.
The National Institution of Human Rights received during the said period 7 grievances and 14 requests for assistance and came up with a number of decisions whose implementation is in progress.
