The Committee of complaints, monitoring and follow-up in the National Institution for Human Rights held its twentieth meeting on Saturday, September 13th 2014 under the chairmanship of Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Alderazi and the membership of Ms. Maria Antoine Khoury and Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel.

During the meeting, they reviewed the overall complaints and requests for assistance received by the institution during the month of August and what has been the conduct. The number of complaints amounted to ten which have been studied and the concerned authorities were contacted to find out what was raised in each of them.  The Ministry of the interior was also directly contacted on four of the complaints which claimed arrest without disclosing the place of detention and the disruption of communication with relatives of the arrested. On the other hand the institution received five requests for assistance and legal advice.

The committee reached a number of decisions and will be working to implement them. One of those decisions was to be present in the sentencing hearing in the case known as "Dry Dock riot" due to be held in September 24, 2014.
