09 Mar 2026

The Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee held its sixth regular meeting, chaired by Dr. Malallah Jaffar Alhammadi. The meeting commenced with a review of the findings and recommendations of previous visit reports, and the necessary decisions were taken in this regard.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed the outcomes of its field visits to individuals affected by the ongoing events, including visits to shelter centers and Salmaniya Medical Complex. These visits aimed to check on the health condition of those injured from the residents of Sitra following the Iranian attacks, within the framework of the Committee’s supervisory and humanitarian mandate. The visits focused on assessing the conditions of those affected, ensuring their safety, evaluating the level of care and services provided to them, as well as reviewing their living and humanitarian conditions and listening to their needs and observations. This contributes to enhancing appropriate responses to their situation, as part of the Institution’s ongoing efforts to ensure that such cases are handled in accordance with humanitarian frameworks and applicable legal standards.
The Committee concluded its meeting by discussing its upcoming field visit plan, including identifying the targeted entities and locations, reaffirming its continued commitment to field monitoring and the promotion of human rights practices.
