NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convenes its 16th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convened its 16th regular meeting, headed by Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain. Present were Committee members Mr. Abdulla Alderazi and Mrs. Wedad Radhi Almoosawi. The meeting was held at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District.

The Committee discussed Secretariat General advisory opinion on the rights of the elderly to an adequate standard of living, and concluded with highlighting the importance of amending the applicable national legislations related to this right with a view to ensure their enjoyment of this constitutionally guaranteed right.

The Committee also reviewed all the resolutions and recommendations adopted at its previous meetings and the actions taken in this regard.  It approved holding a round table that brings together representatives of people with autism and stakeholders in the ministries, the concerned bodies and civil society organizations to be the core of ongoing cooperation between all the relevant parties and to strengthen their role in providing support for people with autism in Bahrain and come up with practical recommendations to promote their rights.
