Meeting

The Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee held its seventh regular meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi. The meeting commenced with a review of the findings and recommendations of previous visit reports, and the Committee took the appropriate decisions in this regard.

During the meeting, the Committee discussed its field visit programme scheduled for the current year to entities covered by the provisions of the Law governing the National Institution for Human Rights, with the aim of assessing existing conditions and verifying the availability of rights guaranteed by law. The Committee also reviewed plans for periodic visits to correction and rehabilitation centres and detention centres as part of its ongoing monitoring of the conditions of inmates, detainees, and persons in custody, and to ensure that they enjoy their rights in accordance with the applicable laws and standards.
