Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee holds its 22nd meeting

The Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee in the National Institution for Human Rights held its 22nd ordinary meeting headed by HE Dr. May Sulaiman Al-Otaibi, and the membership of HE Dr. Fouzia Saeed Saleh and Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel at the National Institution headquarters in Alseef district.

During the meeting, they discussed some of the provisions of the Decree Law No. (70) for 2014 to amend some provisions of Law No. (5) for 2002 so as to approve joining the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), for the purpose of verifying its conformity with the provisions of the international convention.

The committee completed the discussion of the final observations of the committee in charge of the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against women (CEDAW) related to the (nationality) and (employment) and the relevant authorities expected to implement it.

In this regard, the Committee reached to a number of views and proposals and shall continue the discussions on the rest of the recommendations in its next ordinary meeting.
