NIHR’s Committees on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convenes its 14th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convened its 14th regular meeting, under the chairpersonship of Dr. Hameed Ahmed Hussein and membership of Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Derazi and Mrs. Wedad Radhi Al-Moosawi, where the Committees reviewed all of its resolutions and recommendations adopted at its previous meetings and the actions taken in that regard.

The Committees discussed a proposal to hold a panel discussion in the fourth half of this year on the Sustainable Development Goals and to invite the concerned parties such as civil society organizations, the Shura Council, Council of Representatives the United Nations Development Office in Bahrain and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Supreme Council for Women, with a view to highlight the most important achievements made by the Kingdom of Bahrain to accomplish these goals, in addition to the difficulties and challenges facing it.

The Committees also commended the royal directives for the distribution of some housing units and the keenness of the government to speed up the access of housing services to the entitled citizens without delay.  The Committees commended the achievements of the Ministry of Housing, which had a great impact on the achievement of the housing gains currently witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
