Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee Holds Its Eleventh Regular Meeting

20 Oct 2026

The Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held its eleventh regular meeting, chaired by Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi. During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the findings and recommendations of its previous field visit reports, discussed the measures taken in this regard, and adopted appropriate decisions in accordance with its legal mandate.

The Committee also discussed the progress made in implementing its approved field visit programme for the current year, which covers a number of entities and facilities falling within the Institution’s mandate under its Establishment Law. The visits aim to assess conditions at these facilities, monitor compliance with relevant legal standards and safeguards, and evaluate the extent to which fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed under national legislation and international human rights standards are respected and upheld.

The Committee further reviewed plans for field visits scheduled for the remainder of the year, emphasizing the importance of continuing these visits and ensuring regular follow-up on their findings and recommendations. These efforts contribute to strengthening the Institution’s monitoring and preventive role and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting human rights and promoting respect for them in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
