NIHR's Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Holds its 2nd Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights' (NIHR) Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights held its 2nd regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Mr. Farid Ghazi. The meeting was held at the NIHR's headquarters in the Seef District and was attended by Committee Members Dr. Abdulrrahman Jawaheri and Dr. Jameela Al-Sammak.
The Committee reviewed divisions of economic, social and cultural rights as stipulated in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It also studied the Draft Law on Domestic Workers (which was prepared in light of proposal of law submitted by the Council of Representatives) and Draft Law on issuing Attorney’s Law (which was prepared in light of proposal of law submitted by the Shura Council), based upon the request for the NIHR’s opinion on them. The Committee will convene its next meeting on Sunday 14 June, 2015.
