NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convenes its 18th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convened its 18th regular meeting at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef district under the chairmanship of Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain and membership of Mr. Abdulla Ahmed Alderazi and Mrs. Wedad Radhi Almoosawi.

The Committee started its meeting with a review of all the resolutions and recommendations adopted at its previous meetings and the actions taken in this regard. 

Afterwards, the Committee discussed its Action Plan for 2019, through which it seeks to increase its field visits to the care centers for the most-favored groups, represented by centers for the care and shelter of the elderly, child care centers, women protection centers and centers for the care of persons with severe mental retardation, with a view to review the human rights situation in those centers, which reflects the NIHR's role in the promotion and protection of economic, social and cultural rights, which is a main part of Bahrain's implementation of its international obligations under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, in order to build bridges of cooperation between the NIHR and such bodies through educating the NIHR's role in the promotion and protection of human rights and the public services provided by it.
