Meeting

The Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee held its first procedural meeting, chaired by Dr. Malallah Jaffar Alhammadi, who welcomed the new members and provided them with an overview of the committee’s mandate and working procedures, in accordance with the provisions of the Law establishing the National Institution for Human Rights and the internal regulations governing the organization and work of the Council of Commissioners.

The meeting included a detailed presentation on the visits conducted by the committee to various facilities, such as correction and rehabilitation centers under the Ministry of Interior, as well as health, educational, and social facilities, workers’ accommodations, and any other places where potential human rights violations may be suspected. These visits aim to verify the human rights situation in such facilities and to ensure that inmates and beneficiaries — as applicable — fully enjoy their fundamental rights guaranteed under national, regional, and international legislation alike.
