NIHR’s Committee on Detention & Facilities Visitation Convenes its 20th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Detention & Facilities Visitation has convened its 20^th regular meeting, where it opened its agenda by discussing its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon, reviewing the visit conducted by the Committee to Ebrahim K. Kanoo Health and Social Centre and the recommendations issued in their regards.

The Committee also discussed the proposal of the field visits that it will conduct during the first half of the current year, within the framework of the Committee’s keenness to activate the NIHR’s oversight role, and agreed to visit a number of educational institutions and centres to ensure the provision of various rights and guarantees for students and educational and administrative staff, which are stipulated and prescribed by the law in consistency with the basic principles of international human rights standards.
