NIHR Receives Traffic Directorate Trainees as Part of a Human Rights Awareness Program
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) welcomed a group of trainees from the General Directorate of Traffic as part of an educational visit involving 23 trainees. The visit took place at the Training Center located at NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District.
The visit aimed to familiarize the trainees with the human rights framework at both the national and international levels and to enhance their awareness of fundamental human rights and freedoms through a series of awareness lectures delivered by specialists from NIHR.
The lectures covered a number of key topics, most notably an introduction to human rights and fundamental freedoms within both international and national systems, as well as an overview of NIHR’s role in promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The program also highlighted the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relationship to human rights, in addition to the National Human Rights Plan (2022–2026) and the initiatives and programs it encompasses to support the promotion of rights and freedoms.
The lectures further addressed the role undertaken by NIHR in the field of human rights protection through its complaint-handling mechanisms, the legal assistance it provides, and its monitoring and follow-up procedures carried out in accordance with its legal mandate. These efforts contribute to strengthening national safeguards for the protection of human rights and reinforcing the principles of justice and the rule of law.
