NIHR Implements an Awareness Program for Scouts on Human Rights Day

14 Dec 2025

In conjunction with the celebration of Human Rights Day, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in cooperation with the Directorate of Physical Education at the Ministry of Education, organized field visits for seventy-five (75) scouts over two consecutive days at the Institution’s headquarters in the Seef District.

During the visit, Dr. Maha Al Shehab Child Rights Commissioner, delivered a lecture entitled “The Role of the National Institution for Human Rights and the Key Competencies of the Child Rights Commissioner”, in which she addressed the Institution’s mandates and roles in protecting and promoting human rights, with a particular focus on children’s rights and the main national mechanisms concerned therewith.

The program also included a range of interactive activities delivered by the Institution’s General Secretariat team, aimed at enhancing participants’ awareness of human rights principles—particularly children’s rights—while developing the practical dimension and refining the scouts’ skills related to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, thereby contributing to the consolidation of a human rights culture among youth.
