NIHR, in cooperation with the Office of the Inspector General at NIS, concludes the sixth edition of the human rights training program for Service personnel
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in collaboration with the Office of the Inspector General at the National Intelligence Service (NIS), has concluded the sixth edition of its human rights training program, dedicated to the personnel of the Service. The program wrapped up with the fourth and final lecture.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shamma Abdulrazzaq Al-Khan, Assistant Professor at the College of Law, University of Bahrain. She addressed the topic of “Legal Challenges in Criminal Investigations of Terrorist Crimes”, highlighting key legal issues faced by relevant authorities during such investigations. She emphasized the importance of striking a balance between national security requirements and the protection of human rights as guaranteed by the Constitution and relevant international treaties.
The program forms part of the NIHR’s ongoing efforts to promote and strengthen a culture of human rights within security institutions by enhancing legal awareness and developing the legal and practical skills of Service personnel.
All lectures were met with active engagement from participants. The constructive discussions significantly enriched the sessions and deepened the participants’ understanding of the real-world challenges encountered in security work, as well as effective ways to address them within a comprehensive legal and human rights framework.
