16 Sep 2018

On the occasion of the International Literacy Day, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in partnership of the Youth and Technology Association, organized a workshop entitled “the Role of Technology in Literacy”, which was presented by Mrs. Noora Nabil Al-Baluchi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Youth and Technology Association. The workshop was held at the NIHR’s Training Center.

The workshop was aimed at introducing the participants to the importance of technology in eradicating illiteracy by presenting the practical experiences of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the eradication of information illiteracy, the role of technology in developing skills and creating job opportunities for young people, as well as the role of civil society institutions in refining technical talents.

The workshop included interactive exercises for the participants on “how to develop your technical skills” with a view to identify illiteracy in general and modern illiteracy in particular.

This event falls within the mandate of the NIHR in the area of the promotion and dissemination of human rights by holding lectures and training courses for all segments of society on human rights issues, in partnership with the civil society organizations, to promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the NIHR in September 2015, with a view to obtain quality education and learning opportunities at all age stages.
