NIHR Receives a Group of Student Trainees from the General Directorate of Traffic

23 Apr 2025

As part of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing awareness of human rights among government institutions and individuals, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) received a group of student trainees from the General Directorate of Traffic during an exploratory visit to its headquarters. The visit aimed to familiarize the students with the institution’s operational mechanisms in the field of human rights protection.

The visit featured an awareness lecture titled “The Role of the National Institution for Human Rights in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights”, delivered by a number of legal and human rights specialists at the NIHR. The lecture covered several key topics, most notably the establishment and mandate of the institution, its role in promoting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its efforts to align national legislation—including the Bahraini Traffic Law—with international human rights standards and principles.

The lecture was met with positive engagement from the participating students, who expressed notable interest in the presented information and raised numerous questions regarding the relationship between human rights and both traffic-related and legal aspects.

This initiative reflects the NIHR’s ongoing commitment to strengthening partnerships with various governmental and non-governmental entities, and to embedding human rights concepts within training and capacity-building programs.
