NIHR Organizes Awareness Lecture on “Bullying and Its Impact on Child Rights”
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized an awareness lecture titled “Bullying and Its Impact on Child Rights” for the Scouts students of New Vision School, delivered by Dr. Maha Al-Shihab, the Child Rights Commissioner, at the NIHR headquarters.
At the beginning of the session, Dr. Al-Shihab posed a set of interactive questions to assess the students’ knowledge of child rights, emphasizing the importance of enhancing children’s awareness of their fundamental rights and how such knowledge empowers them to protect themselves and act confidently in various situations.
The lecture then addressed the concept of bullying, its types, and its negative effects on children’s rights, in addition to ways to prevent bullying and how students should respond when encountering it. It also covered the role of the school and family in protecting children, as well as the role of the NIHR in promoting child rights and receiving related complaints.
