NIHR begins the First Activity of the 2nd Training

26 Feb 2019

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in partnership with the Office of the Inspector-General of the National Security Agency, organized an awareness lecture on "National Mechanisms for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights", in the 2nd version of the special training program for National Security Agency staff on human rights, which includes workshops and educational lectures from February to September 2019, targeting the training of 200 members of the Agency.

The lecture was presented by Mr. Mohamed Al-Najjar, Head of the NIHR’s Legal Affairs Unit.  It dealt with the principle of sovereignty and human rights and the national mechanisms for the promotion and protection of human rights, in which he touched on their concept and most prominent applications.  It also dealt with the NIHR’s role and the difference between it and some other national mechanisms, as well as the Paris Principles governing the work of national human rights institutions around the world and NIHR’s accreditation system.
