01 Jun 2025

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of human rights and raise community awareness, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) conducted a series of introductory lectures at several international schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The schools included Al Noor International School, Abdulrahman Kanoo International School, and the Canadian School.

The lectures focused on two main themes, highlighting the NIHR’s role and the importance of respecting rights and responsibilities within society.

The first theme, titled "The Role of the National Institution for Human Rights in Promoting and Protecting Human Rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain," was presented by Mr. Daniel Haroon, a member of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners. He provided an overview of the NIHR’s mandates and mechanisms of action, as well as its efforts in monitoring, receiving complaints, offering legal advice, and strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

The second theme, titled "My Rights and Responsibilities," was delivered by Ms. Fatima Al-Turaif, Head of the Training and Education Department at the NIHR. She explained the concepts of rights and responsibilities and their significance in building a cohesive society. She also addressed how individuals can exercise their rights within legal frameworks and emphasized the importance of respecting laws and public order.

These lectures are part of the NIHR’s strategic plan to enhance cooperation with educational institutions and promote human rights awareness among students, contributing to the development of a generation that is well-informed about its rights and committed to its duties toward the nation and society.
