NIHR launches a Series of Online Training Lectures

As part of the events and training programs organized by the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), and in line with its role in disseminating a culture of human rights among the different society groups in accordance with national and international standards, and in implementation of its strategy and action plan, the NIHR organized a lecture on its role in the promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the mandates entrusted to in accordance with its Incorporation Law.

The lecture was presented by Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the NIHR by videoconference to an online female trainee, as a positive interaction with the precautionary measures taken by the Kingdom to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) by avoiding mixing, gatherings meetings, and applying social distancing. During the presentation, Ms. Maria Khoury introduced the NIHR’s law and the services provided by it to the citizens and residents in the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as the other national mechanisms relating to the protection of human rights and their role in cooperation with the legislative authority and institutions to access the maximum levels of protection and promotion in the human rights issue.  In addition, she explained the mechanism of receiving complaints and assistance applications especially under the current circumstances of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The training program targets university students in the Kingdom of Bahrain or abroad who want to have practical training of their academic requirements, as well as individuals and researchers who want to know the NIHR mechanism of action (analysis and study of complaints received, assistance provided, monitoring, follow-up to public comments and treaty body statements and special procedures, the mechanism of writing reports, advisory opinion and research on human rights).  It is worth mentioning that the online training mechanism shall continue to provide a continuous series of topics related to the culture of human rights by the full-time members of the NIHR.
