HM the King deputized the Minister of Foreign Affairs to inaugurate the international conference on the Arab Court of Human Rights

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa,  the international conference on the Arab Court for Human Rights hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain over two days, began its activities with the participation of Gulf, Arab and regional human rights organizations, and civil society organizations in the Kingdom.

For his part, The NIHR chairperson, HE Dr Abdulaziz Abul's gave a speech during the opening session of the conference in which he expressed deep thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa hailing his Majesty’s patronage of the conference and His Majesty’s sublime initiative to establish the a Court for human rights in the Arab World.

His Excellency the Chairperson of the institution stated that the initiative of His Majesty the King to establish the Arab Court for Human Rights was an expression of the wise insight of  His Majesty the King, which is considered as a new addition to the joint Arab action in the field of human rights respect and protection in the Arab world.

He said: "The National Institution commends the Arab efforts exerted in order to  establish the Arab Court for Human Rights represented by the Arab League that chose the Kingdom of Bahrain to be the headquarters of the Arab Court for Human Rights in its fortieth  regular meeting held in Cairo last September, which is counted as a real asset to the Arab nation in order to promote and protect human rights, develop the human rights field and the Arab regional system of human rights, and strengthen mechanisms for human rights actions in the Arab countries."

Dr Abdulaziz Abul expressed hope that this conference will be an additional building block in the promotion and protection of human rights, encouraging a culture of respect for the rights guaranteed by the monotheistic religions and approved by constitutions and confirmed by international conventions and treaties.  He also hoped that the conference reaches to a number of recommendations and suggestions to be considered when the Arab League endorses the Statute of the Arab Court.

HE The Chairperson of the institution offered sincere thanks to the Shura council and the council of Representatives for their support to hold the International Conference on the Arab Court for Human Rights. He also valued the partners supporting the activities of the conference, led by the Arab League, the Arab Parliament, the National Commission for Human Rights in Qatar, the Arab Network of National Institutions for Human Rights and the High Committee Organizing the Conference for their efforts to make this conference a success.
