NIHR organizes the third lecture of the human rights training program for trainee lawyers in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

 NIHR Organized the third lecture of the human rights training program for trainee lawyers on international humanitarian law in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross. The lecture was held on Monday morning at the NIHR headquarters in Al Seef suburb. The organization of this training program comes within the action plan and strategy of the NIHR for the years 2013-2016 to promote and develop a human rights culture,  to cooperate with  specialized international organizations and regional authorities in order to establish peace system in achieving the human rights principles on the ground and to spread the culture of international humanitarian law.

The Secretary-General of the NIHR, Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Farhan, asserted that this lecture goes together with the programs of the training course began last March, and that the cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross is a real addition to enrich the human rights lawful thinking in the field of human rights.  He said: "The aim of today's lecture is to spread literature and concepts of human rights in peace and war, which is in the interest of the protection of human rights and giving a real understanding of human rights in various fields."

In a speech on behalf of the regional delegation of the GCC, Mr. Yahya Khalil valued the cooperation between the International Committee of the Red Cross and the NIHR in the area of training on international humanitarian law, to spread the culture of human rights concepts. He praised the role of the NIHR in spreading the awareness of the concept of a human rights.

The training course addressed the following subjects:

-  Explanation of the basic rules of international humanitarian law: Growing principles and application cases lectured by HE Mr. Fouad Bawaba the Regional Director for Media and Publishing for the International Committee of the Red Cross,  the GCC regional delegation based in Kuwait.

- Similarities and differences between international humanitarian law and human rights law, the application mechanisms of the international humanitarian law,  the persons and objects protected and protection badges,  lectured by HE Ms. Ghada Mohammed Al-Shawa regional legal adviser for the International Committee of the Red Cross in the GCC countries.

 
The training course concludes on Tuesday in three sessions, the first is on the International Committee of the Red Cross, its role in situations of armed conflict and other forms of violence, and the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the lecturer will be HE Mr. Ammar Mohammed the person of Bahrain’s file in the International Committee of the Red Cross,  the GCC regional delegation.

The meetings conclude with a lecture about the rights and responsibilities of health workers in situations of armed conflict and other emergencies.
