NIHR Receives UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received H.E. Mr. Khaled El Mekwad, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest.

Alderazi emphasized the importance of continuing to develop cooperation between NIHR and the United Nations in support of efforts to promote and protect human rights and advance shared objectives related to sustainable development.

For his part, Mr. El Mekwad commended the important role played by NIHR and its efforts, programmes, and initiatives to promote and protect human rights and raise awareness of human rights principles. He also praised NIHR’s contributions to strengthening the human rights framework in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Both sides expressed their aspiration to further strengthen cooperation in the coming period, particularly in the area of technical cooperation, in support of shared objectives and national efforts in the fields of human rights and sustainable development.
