NIHR Delegation Reviews the Conditions of Detainees at South Hamad Town Police Station
As part of the National Institution for Human Rights' (NIHR) mandate and responsibilities, an NIHR delegation conducted a periodic field visit to the South Hamad Town Police Station, affiliated with the Northern Governorate Police Directorate, to review the human rights situation at the station and assess the extent to which detainees are able to enjoy their rights as guaranteed by law.
During the visit, the delegation toured the station's facilities and received a briefing on the procedures in place to safeguard the rights of detainees. The delegation also met with a number of detainees and listened to their observations regarding the conditions of their detention and the treatment they receive, with the aim of verifying compliance with legal safeguards and human rights standards.
