The Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights commends the directives of His Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister declaring Wadi Al-Buhair as a nature reserve.

Engineer Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, declaring the ecological areas of Wadi Al-Buhair, characterized by their terrain and rocky hills as a nature reserve.

The NIHR’s Chairman also commended the efforts made by the Kingdom in providing infrastructure and services aimed at preserving protected areas of an ecological nature in the Kingdom of Bahrain, whether in Arad Bay area, Tubli Bay or the Fasht Bulthama, which were classified by previous resolutions as nature reserves, in addition to Wadi Al-Buhair. This highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to international human rights standards, national, regional and international resolutions in support of the right of everyone to a healthy, appropriate and sound environment, especially the Kingdom of Bahrain’s recent ratification of the statute of the Arab Union for Nature Reserves, was issued under Law No. (11) of the year 2022 in April.

Al-Derazi stressed that the NIHR, in line with its wide mandate pursuant to its establishment law, is following up on the compliance of national legislation with regional and international documents and texts that consider the environment and its resources a common heritage, to which the State and individuals have a duty to protect and develop at national and international levels.
