Subcommittee at NIHR Holds Its First Meeting

Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), chaired the first meeting of the subcommittee tasked with documenting the human rights and humanitarian implications resulting from the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by members of the Council of Commissioners and the Secretary-General.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of preparing a professional human rights report documenting the violations and their humanitarian and economic impacts, in a manner that supports human rights pathways at both the national and international levels.

The meeting also reviewed monitoring and documentation mechanisms, which include receiving complaints, obtaining information from reliable sources, conducting field monitoring, and verifying the accuracy of data. The importance of conducting field visits when necessary was also underscored.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to distribute tasks and coordinate with relevant entities to provide the necessary data, in addition to holding weekly meetings to follow up on work progress, in preparation for drafting the report in accordance with the highest professional standards.
