NIHR Organizes a Field Visit for the Friends of the Child Rights Commissioner to the Ministry of Social Development

24 Jul 2025

Continuing the series of field visits organized by the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) under the “Influential Child Rights Leaders” program — launched in cooperation with FranklinCovey Education – Middle East, the Smile Initiative, and the Al-Kawhaji Charity Foundation, under the slogan “It’s Your Right” — the Friends of the Child Rights Commissioner visited the Embassy of the United Kingdom in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as part of the Institution’s efforts to promote a culture of human rights among children.

The delegation was received by His Excellency Mr. Alastair Long, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, who welcomed the participants and expressed his appreciation for such initiatives that help foster a sense of responsibility and participation among children, enabling them to be active contributors to issues affecting their future.

Her Excellency Ms. Fiona Walker Doyle, Deputy Ambassador, delivered an interactive workshop on the role of embassies in promoting human rights, with the participation of several embassy staff members who outlined the nature of their daily duties. The visit concluded with an open discussion, during which the children addressed key challenges related to their rights and explored ways to address them.

This visit builds on previous initiatives and aligns with the Institution’s strategy to instill human rights principles in younger generations, while strengthening national and international partnerships in this field, in line with the principles set out in the National Human Rights Plan, which serves as a comprehensive national reference for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
