NIHR organizes a Field Visit to UCO Parents Care Center

A delegation of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), headed by Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani, Chairperson of the NIHR, and membership of Mrs. Shaikha Al Aliwi and Mrs. Amal Rajab, representatives of the NIHR General Secretariat, visited UCO Parents Care Center, in conjunction with the World Daye of Public Awareness on Elder abuse, adopted by the UN General Assembly, where the delegation distributed a collection of Ramadan gifts to elderly fathers and mothers.

The Chairperson of the NIHR stated that the purpose of presenting such gift to the elderly is to provide happiness and pleasure to their hearts as an initiative that reminds them with those who remember them, especially in the month of good and generosity.  He added that the delegation’s visit comes within the framework of the NIHR’s social communication with the bodies involved in humanitarian action.

For her part, Mrs. Rima bin Shams, head of the UCO Parents Care Center praised the NIHR’s delegation visit, commending its humanitarian role in protecting the rights of the elderly, looking forward to further cooperation through the dissemination of the culture of the elderly rights and respect thereof.

It is worth mentioning that this year’s theme highlights the importance of strengthening the resolve of all States and doubling their efforts to eliminate all forms of violence and abuse against the elderly in order to ensure the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and fulfill the pledge not to overlook the rights of any category.
